WE WERE WRONG ABOUT TOM MILLER AND WE APOLOGIZE

During the 2022 Newport Beach City Council District One race, Safe Neighborhoods PAC (SNP) and its principal officer David Ellis published internet posts and sent out campaign mailers that falsely implied Tom Miller misappropriated funds from the Federal Government's Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) and thereby committed a crime. That implication is false. Mr. Miller never misappropriated or misused any PPP funds.

Safe Neighborhoods PAC and Mr. Ellis acknowledge that, by distributing their publications online and to thousands of residents of Newport Beach, they exposed themselves to liability for defamation. Ellis and SNP are paying compensation to Mr. Miller to settle his lawsuit and Mr. Ellis and SNP sincerely apologize to Mr. Miller and regret the reputational harm to Mr. Miller and his family that the publications may have caused.
