STOLEN NUCLEAR GAUGE

On October 21, a portable nuclear density gauge was stolen from 6625 Arbutus Ave., Huntington Park, CA 90255. The theft was reported by TGR Geotechnical to the Huntington Park Police Department. The yellow gauge weighs about 30 lbs.

Model and manufacturer are marked on the gauge exterior: 3430, Troxler.
Serial No. 34794.

The gauge contains a small quantity of radioactive material in a stainless steel capsule. It is used as an inspection tool on earthwork and paving construction projects. Properly used, the gauge presents no danger to the operator or the general public. The gauge should not be used or tampered with by someone who is unauthorized to do so.

Should you locate this gauge, please secure it and call the Radiation Safety Officer of TGR Geotechnical at (714) 641-7189 or the California Department of Public Health at (714) 524-1409.
